A strong first-half performance saw Chesham clinch a comfortable win against their South Midlands League opponents.

On an immaculate playing surface the first fifteen minutes saw both teams testing each other out.  On the quarter hour Josh Cooper's left-wing corner was headed back across goal by Sam Ledger to Andy Keepence whose header was turned away by the home goalkeeper, then a cross from the left by Ledger was headed across goal and wide of the near post by Steve Cawley.  The home team then had their moments with a snap shot across goal from the edge of the area and a free kick which flew just over.  However Chesham then dominated the rest of the half with some neat flowing football.  Shortly before the half-hour mark Broxbourne's keeper spread himself to block a shot from Steve Cawley, but the opening goal was not long in coming.  Following a left-wing move Adam Parker laid the ball into the path of Danny Burnell who scored with a low shot from just inside the area.

Shortly before half-time Chesham made it two when Danny Burnell harried a home defender into the giving the ball away, Adam Parker advanced to the edge of the area and slipped the ball into the path of the overlapping Dave Fotheringham who swept the ball past the keeper.  Broxbourne came into the game more in the second half as the flow of the game was disrupted by a number of substitutions.  Twice Bobby Smith was forced to come out to save after a home forward broke clear, once with a block at the striker's feet and once turning away a powerful shot, while at the other end Broxbourne's substitute keeper, who had come on midway through the half, made a double save from Danny Burnell after Sammy Winston had set up the chance.
