Last weekend we enjoyed a fantastic 4-0 win over Enfield Town in the FA Trophy in what was probably our best performance of the season. It was good to have our captain, Steve Brown back in the starting line-up and it is always good to get a win over a past manager and no doubt Andy Leese, the Enfield manager, will have been disappointed with the outcome – although I think anyone would have struggled against us on that form.
Less so on Tuesday night when we slipped to a defeat at Harrow Borough. We never recovered from a poor first-half and ended up losing the game 2-1. Tomorrow (Saturday), we hope to bounce back when we travel to Winchester City in the league. I am aware of one car going to the game that has two spare seats available, if anyone is interested in travelling to the game and is looking for a lift, please get in touch.
Away from football, tickets are selling well for our Fireworks Night on Friday 4th November. A big thank you to all our neighbours for your understanding on the night of the event, it is one of our most successful events of the year, providing entertainment for the town. To ensure that you don’t miss out, you can book your tickets in advance AT https://cheshamunitedfc.ktckts.com/brand/events
The fundraising continues for our Players Benevolent Fund, including a Golf Day at Chartridge Park Golf Club on Wednesday 2nd November – a big thank you to the golf club for their tremendous support and donating so much to the event. Entry for the Golf Day, which I know will be great fun, is £50 and includes a bacon roll, coffee, 18 holes and a 2-course meal. To book your place contact press@cheshamunited.co.uk.
On Tuesday 25th October we welcome the Chesham Chamber of Commerce as our match sponsors for the game against Metropolitan Police, along with Amersham in Business as matchball sponsors. For this occasion we will also be welcoming Bucks Mind along to the game to talk with our visitors and supporters in the clubhouse. Also at the Metropolitan Police game we will be launching our new lager, Brooklyn, in The Chess Suite, and Carlsberg will be joining us in the clubhouse to promote the brew including giving away a free pint to anyone that has a voucher – And you will find a voucher in the matchday programme that night, so you know what you need to do!!
I am delighted to say that the floodlights are up and operating, hugely increasing the brightness at evening games as well as saving money on energy and being much safer…yes, as it turned out during the installation we discovered an issue that was a potential fire hazard with the old lights on one of the pylons. Thankfully now this issue has been fixed, potentially a lucky escape.
Finally a reminder about our Player Benevolent fund that has now reached over £3,000, we are running some events to supplement this with the Golf Day and a Race Night after the Truro game (26th November). But in the meantime, you can still donate AT https://www.gofundme.com/f/cufc-players-injury-rehabilitation-fund
Hope to see some of you in Winchester, thank you for your support.
