I received a wonderful note this week that put a smile on my face. It was from an older supporter who “doesn’t like all the new technology” and it included a cheque for £100 towards our Players Injury & Rehabilitation Fund. How fantastic that this supporter had gone to the effort to appreciate why we set up the fund and send such a generous donation, a heart-warming reminder of what a wonderful community we have here in Chesham.

I have no doubt that there are many more people out there who understand why we have set up the GoFundMe page (click here for details and to donate) and I hope those of you that are in a position to be able to contribute will find the time to do so. Remember this is not supplementing the playing budget or going into the club funds, this money is solely for the purpose of helping our injured players to return to fitness as quickly as possible. Not just so that we can get them back in a Chesham shirt, but because for many the injuries affect their livelihood and income. There have been a couple of instances in the past season where as a club we have spent out on diagnosis, operations and recuperations way beyond the amount so far raised from the GoFundMe page so please support, if you can, I know the players really appreciate this caring side of Chesham United, and I hope we can continue to fund players that suffer injuries in the future.

Tomorrow is another massive day at the club as we host the third Alex Horne Comedy Football Trophy which is going to be a sell-out – when I checked this morning there were less that 20 tickets available for sale. I must say a very big thank you to Alex and the committee of volunteers who have been working tirelessly to bring all of this together. An incredible amount of work goes into the event, and we are so lucky to have the people that are so committed and professional in their approach. If you are lucky enough to have a ticket, you are in for an absolute treat.

Please arrive early, there will be nearly 4,000 people coming through the turnstiles with plenty going on inside to keep you fed and watered ahead of kick-off with lots of new food outlets coming in, additional toilets and more bars selling soft and alcoholic drinks around the ground as well as within the clubhouse. Please also read the pre-match info as there will be some changes to the usual matchday operation at the Meadow

Also available to purchase will be our new kits for next season, keep an eye on our social media for more revealing of this kit – As I write these notes Alex Horne has escaped with the new shirt, and is off around town having photographs taken for the launch. Both the new home and away shirts will make their first appearance when worn by Chicken City and Egg United tomorrow, be sure to pick up your replica shirt whilst at the game. Whilst you are doing so, do not miss the new official home and away scarves that will be on sale (these spring afternoons can still get cold!) and our brand new club ties that will also be on sale at the game tomorrow.

Also available to buy tomorrow at the game is a special matchday programme that will feature details of all the players from both teams and perhaps more importantly an explanation of some of the rules that might vary slightly from what you are used to. For example, you might wonder why everyone on the pitch, except for the goalkeepers, suddenly sits down when a specific song comes over the speakers – yes, it really is that bonkers! We have already sold 500 programmes in advance of the event, so if you have not ordered yours yet, be sure to pick one up when you enter the ground from one of our sellers.

Thank you as always for your support.
