as we start with the announcement of our first new signing for the season ahead. I think you will be pleased, I know our management duo are very happy with the way the squad is shaping up at this early stage. You will have also seen that last Friday we announced our retained/released list from last seasons squad, we have successfully retained an excellent squad of players, and our new additions will make for a very exciting season. On behalf of everyone at the club, I would like to pass on my thanks and best wishes to those players who have moved on, your time with the club is greatly appreciated and you will be remembered for the part you played in a historic era of the club.

During tomorrow morning, starting at 9am, we will be at the club for our first of the summer ground working parties, it would be great if we could get a good number of other volunteers to join us as we begin the basic tidying and clearing jobs around the terraces, with line painting and sweeping to follow. If you have a good petrol or heavy duty grass strimmer that you are able to bring with you to tackle some of the longer grass and weeded areas around the ground that would be even better.

Earlier today, I had a meeting with a potential new food vendor for the matchdays. I have been receiving feedback that supporters would like more variety, so we have listened, and if all goes to plan next season you will be able to order an array of Italian dishes as you enjoy your football and pre-match pint at the club. Talking of having a pint at the club, don’t forget, we will also have an additional outdoor bar at games going forward with a new building going up recently at The Meadow End of the Main Stand. We are also still in discussions and looking at grant options for the completion of the toilet block at the Meadow End of the ground. So plenty still going on in the off season at the Meadow.

Away from the club this week, I was delighted to visit Chesham Youth Club. An excellent organisation, who on a Wednesday night run a session for children aged between 8 and 12 years old. The most pleasing part of it all, and surprising in this day and age, was the fact that there were no mobile phones, laptops, tablets or any tech of any sort. It was just young children enjoying themselves, playing games, running around and most importantly, chatting to each other. They were being children. It was fantastic to see, and it is so pleasing that as a community we have somewhere like the Chesham Youth Club to organise this. As a club we will definitely be keen to promote and support this set-up going forward and I will be talking to our management committee about us as a club whether we can offer to run some football skills sessions one evening. Well done everyone involved there.

Finally, what a magnificent night at the Broadway Baptist Church last Saturday. Over 300 people joined us by paying to watch Treorchy and Chess Valley Male Voice Choirs sing in harmony, as well as individually as two choirs along with the superlative voice of Lauren Williams, a young Welsh singer who sang 6 songs as the soloist – a fantastic performance. Thanks must go to Graham Green at Broadway Baptist Church who worked tirelessly to make the event go smoothly and professionally, alongside the staff & volunteers of Chesham United Football Club & Bucks Mind who worked tirelessly prior to the event and on the day. One Club, One Community.

Now as always, thank for your support, keep an eye on social media this evening and I look forward to seeing some of you with your gardening gloves and strimmers in the morning!
