There were four changes to the starting eleven, as Alex Babos had a slight injury and Samson Esan, Mitchell Weiss and Omar Rowe were rested. They were replaced by Lewis Rolfe, Gio Rasulo, Matt McClure and Nathan Minhas. Horsham made the better start and had the first effort on goal in the seventh minute, when James Hammond went for goal from a free kick on the left touchline but Ben Goode stretched to tip the ball over. The visitors continued to have the upper hand throughout the half but had only one other moment of note. Just after the half-hour Harvey Sparks mishit a shot that was going well wide, but Ola Ogunwamide got to the ball and set up Sparks whose effort was part-blocked and saved by Goode.
Chesham improved after the interval and had an early chance, when a free kick from Matt Lench came to Connor Stevens at the far post but he was unable to control it and the ball was cleared. At the other end Ola Ogunwamide crossed low from the right and Harvey Sparks’ shot was tipped round the post by Ben Goode. As on Saturday Chesham made a triple substitution on the hour, and looked livelier but failed to carve out any clear-cut chances. Midway through the half a quick break from Horsham saw James Roberts break clear and try to beat Ben Goode from distance but the keeper was able to save comfortably. Chesham’s best effort of the evening came on 75 minutes, when Matt Lench shot powerfully from distance but the ball bounced off the head of a defender and out for a corner. The closing stages saw the ball moved at high pace by both sides but the two defences remained largely untroubled.
