Historically Chesham United have been on the boundary between Division 1 SW and Division 1 SE and so there’s always a slim chance that we’ll be moved. However this season we stay where we played in 2024/25, namely The FAWNL Division 1 South East.
As you can see from the lineup of clubs the quality of opponent continues to rise! After the relegation of London Seaward and Ashford Town last season we are joined by 2 very well supported clubs that won their regional divisions last season. Fulham won the London & South East Regional Women’s Premier by 10 points with 20 wins and 2 draws from their 22 played. They also beat Chesham on their impressive Women’s FA Cup run. We’re also joined by Luton Town who won the Eastern Region Women’s Football League Premier by 8 points. 2 new teams that will certainly have an ambition to continue to move up the divisions in the women’s game.
Coming down from FAWNL Southern Premier we also welcome MK Dons Women. MK had a tough season in 24/25 with only 1 point from their 22 games played and so will be looking to consolidate in Tier 4. The other teams that was due to be moved in to Tier 4 after an 11th place finish in Tier 3 was Billericay but due to teams above them pulling out of the Women’s Championship they were offered a reprieve and will go again in Tier 3 this season.
The rest of the teams in Div 1 SE we’ve met before! We welcome teams like QPR, Norwich City, Cambridge United and Dulwich Hamlet back to The Meadow to kick-off our campaign for a third season having been moved into the SE Divison for season 2022/23. Traditionally the season kicks off on the 3rd Sunday of August but with fixtures yet to be released we’ll update you as soon as we’re able to!
This season is bound to be a tougher one than we’ve ever faced as the quality improves all the time. We’re looking for sponsors and supporters to join us to ensure we remain competitive. To that end we’re launching an initiative called “The Vanguard…for Chesham United FC Women”. The Vanguard’s members will help support our playing budget and will be a key part of ensuring we remain competitive on the pitch in Tier 4 this season. Do get in touch if you want to know more.
2 months to go! Pre-season fixtures are being sorted and we’ll share news on that in the next week or two. See you on the terraces on a Sunday soon.
