Not only are we honoured to be joined by the internationally renowned Treorchy Male Voice Choir, but we’re also proud to be sharing the stage with the brilliant local voices of the Chess Valley Male Choir. This concert is something a little different for us as a football club, but it’s exactly the sort of event that reflects what Chesham United is all about – being at the heart of our community. We believe a football club should be more than just what happens on the pitch. It should be a hub, a unifier, a supporter of good causes and a place where all corners of the community come together – and tonight is a perfect example of that.
Bringing together world-class musical talent with local passion, in support of a charity that does vital work across Buckinghamshire, is something we’re extremely proud of. All profits from the event will go directly to Bucks Mind, our official charity partner and their work supporting mental health across the county is more important than ever, and we’re delighted to be able to play our part in helping them continue to make a difference. Pulling this evening together has been a real team effort – from the volunteers at the football club, to the choirs, the venue, and everyone who has supported behind the scenes. A huge thank you to all involved, tickets are still available so do book if you haven’t already. I am sure you will enjoy the music, soak up the atmosphere, and leave the concert feeling as inspired as we do by the power of community, collaboration and a shared love of something bigger than ourselves – whether that’s football, music, or just Chesham itself.
On the football front, our Women’s first team have had their league allocation confirmed this week and they’ll be playing in the FA Women’s National League Division 1 South East again. For 2025/26 they’ll be joined by promoted clubs Fulham and Luton Town plus MK Dons who were relegated from The Southern Premier Division last season. The league traditionally kicks off on the 3rd Sunday in August so you’ll hear about the fixtures as soon as as we do. More info on their league and a new scheme they have launched called “The Vanguard”, click this link
Our very successful Under18 setup, whose this year completed a league and cup double have now been accepted into the National League Alliance U19 league to test themselves even further next season as part of their Academy courses through Talent-X. We will be looking to defend this years title and more next year with a new U18 squad coming through that looks very promising & powerful. These are an important part of our pathway from Minis & Youth football into Academy football and hopefully on into first team football with Chesham and other local clubs across Step 4/5 with dual-registrations.
Speaking of Men’s first team football, I ask for a small amount more of patience as we are very close to being able to start announcing our retained players from last seasons squad, as well as welcoming some new faces to the club. I was at the club yesterday evening to welcome faces new & old as we started to get the paperwork rolling to sign players on & the requisite photos taken for announcements. We are very close so do keep an eye out for more info in the coming weeks. I assure you that you will be excited by the new signings we are making, I know the managers have put a lot of hard work into the signings we have made so far and are still working on further additions before pre-season training starts in just under 3 weeks for the players. As always we are looking to push forward, and improve year on year and it has been an incredibly busy few weeks for our managers, coaches and the staff and volunteers at the club working behind the scenes.
Finally, from next Saturday 14th June we will be looking to run working parties at the ground to start getting the facilities back in shape & prepared for the new season, if you can spare some time on a Saturday morning then please let us know or pop along from 9.30am as we really do need a team effort off the pitch to keep the Meadow looking as good as she does. I’m glad our collective rain dances worked this week with some overdue rain helping us get the pitch ready for another season with just over 6 weeks left before our first home pre-season fixtures.
Take care and enjoy the weekend
Peter
