Dorking are a very strong side with real ambition this season and they will no doubt be targeting promotion, so we know it will be another big test for us. These are the games we were excited about when we won promotion and I hope we can get a good crowd in to help push the lads on.

We always knew this run of fixtures would be tough. Three matches on the bounce against sides who were playing National League football recently is a huge challenge for any club. Last Saturday’s narrow 2-1 defeat at Ebbsfleet could easily have gone our way on another day, and on Tuesday night we travelled to Dagenham and Redbridge who were in League One not that long ago. A 3-1 loss was disappointing, but it was also a reminder of the size and quality of the clubs we are now competing against.

What we must not do is panic. There will be bumps along the way. This is a resilient group and I know they will respond as they always do. Our supporters continue to be magnificent home and away and your backing really does play a big part in helping the players through these tougher spells. Please keep sticking with us.

Tomorrow is also our Dementia Day here at The Meadow, something that means a great deal to us as part of our commitment to being a genuine community club. We will have dedicated seating in the main stand, refreshments available and the chance for guests to meet players and Board members. It is so important that we continue to open our doors to every part of the community. In the second half the team will be playing without names on the back of their shirts as part of the day’s awareness work.

This makes it especially fitting that we once again remember Brian McCarthy. Brian gave so much to Chesham United over so many years and, as many will know, he also lived with dementia later in his life. His legacy and the affection people feel for him remain very strong throughout the club. A reminder of the funeral details for those wishing to attend: Monday 15 December 2025 at Amersham Crematorium at 12.15pm, with a wake in The Chess Suite afterwards. Everyone will be very welcome.

Away from the match, I want to highlight something we are very proud to be supporting. The MPS Society Carol Concert takes place on Saturday 6 December. We have an advert in their programme and we work closely with the charity throughout the year. I know it is a busy time for everyone, but it would be wonderful if a few of us could attend the concert and show our support. Details are on their website and I really hope some of you can make it.

A quick travel update too, Katherine Cyster is running a minibus to the Horsham away game next month. One minibus is already full and if there is enough interest she will arrange a second one, £20 per person. They plan to set off at 11am and leave Horsham at 5.30pm. To register your interest, please use the form here: https://forms.gle/4uchL1GhLtuYE1XX6. Alternatively, you can contact Katherine directly on 07391 053165 via email or WhatsApp.

Thank you as always for your support. Let’s get a strong crowd in tomorrow, let’s make our guests on Dementia Day feel welcome and let’s get right behind the team for what will be another cracking occasion at The Meadow.
