Recap

Chesham went down to their third consecutive league defeat as promotion-chasing Dorking cruised to a comfortable win.  After losing Callum Adebiyi to injury Chesham’s defence struggled to contain the visitors, who moved into a three-goal lead early in the second half which killed the game off.  Chesham made three changes to the side that lost at Tonbridge on Tuesday – Lewis Rolfe returned from suspension in place of the suspended Jack Cawley, Omar Rowe came in for Joe Grant, and Alex Lafleur returned which meant that T’Sharne Gallimore dropped to the bench.  New signing Gary Abisogun made his debut as a substitute as Chesham named their only remaining fit players on the bench.

Chesham briefly caused problems with a fifth-minute corner from Bradley Clayton, which went to the near post and keeper Harrison Foulkes grabbed the ball as Connor Stevens challenged.  Dorking had more of the ball but only came close once in the opening half-hour, when Jack Young tried to catch Dillon Addai unawares with a shot from fully 40 yards but the keeper dived to push the ball round the post.  However on 26 minutes Callum Adebiyi was forced off with injury and Chesham were forced to reshuffle their defence.  Shortly afterwards Dorking’s Alfie Rutherford broke clear but was denied by a great last-ditch tackle by Connor Roberts.  However the visitors did take the lead on 41 minutes, when Chesham were unable to clear their lines and James Muitt eventually forced the ball home.  Two minutes later Matthew Briggs pulled the ball back from the by-line and Muitt added a second goal with a close-range shot.  Chesham came back with Alex Lafleur and Omar Rowe combining on the left to set up Mitchell Weiss for a shot which Foulkes dived to his right to save.  Deep into stoppage time Jack Young went for goal with a free kick from near the touchline but Dillon Addai clawed the ball away.

Chesham were clearly up against it but their chances of getting anything from the game vanished in the opening minutes of the second half.  Firstly Alfie Rutherford broke away and fired into the net on 47 minutes, then Omar Rowe was harshly shown a straight red card for a late challenge on George Francomb.  Just after the hour mark Dorking scored a fourth when Briggs again crossed from the right and Rutherford turned the ball in.  With the game over as a contest both sides were content to play out time, but Dorking managed a fifth goal in stoppage time when Jordan Norville-Williams crossed from the left and Rutherford headed in to complete his hat-trick.
