Recap
Chesham scored their first goal and secured their first point in four matches against mid-table Slough. This was an even contest throughout and a draw was a fair result as neither side did enough to win. Chesham made three changes to the starting eleven following Saturday’s defeat by Dorking. Avan Jones came in at right back with Connor Roberts moved into the centre in place of the injured Callum Adebiyi, and Joe Grant and Karl Oliyide replaced Bradley Clayton and Omar Rowe.
Slough made the stronger start with former Chesham man Jeanmal Prosper heading over from a John Gilbert corner. Chesham had the first real chance when Connor Roberts fed Karl Oliyide whose shot was blocked and Joe Grant’s follow-up was saved by home keeper Charlie Horlock. Prosper was injured and forced to go off on 21 minutes, and this led indirectly to Slough taking the lead. The referee restarted the game with a drop ball, and Slough player-manager Scott Davies spotted Dillon Addai off his line and lobbed the ball over him and into the net from inside his own half. Two minutes later Connor Roberts hit a free kick from 30 yards that flew just wide as Chesham looked to get back in the game. Slough had one more chance in the half when the ball came to John Gilbert on the right but he sliced his effort wide. On 35 minutes an Ashley Lodge throw-in came to Joe Grant who glanced a header wide of the far post.
Chesham dominated the opening stages of the second half, and Alex Lafleur broke into the home area and his cross-shot flew just past the far post. Chesham’s pressure paid off just after the hour mark, when a neat move led to the ball coming to Nathan Minhas who shot into the net off the underside of the bar. The home side came back into the game but there were few chances at either end. On 72 minutes there was a scramble in the Chesham area but Dillon Addai spread himself to save and the ball was cleared to safety. Late in the game Dillon Addai dived to save from Leon Chambers-Parillon, then Dan Bayliss headed towards goal from a John Gilbert corner but Addai saved comfortably. The game petered out with neither side looking likely to snatch a late winner.
