Recap

Chesham finished well beaten as Worthing secured a win that took them to the top of the table.  After a quiet opening the home side took the lead with a goal out of nothing, which gave them the confidence to stroll to a comfortable win. Callum Adebiyi returned after being suspended for the Truro game, replacing Connor Roberts with Lewis Rolfe switching to right back.  The other two changes saw T’Sharne Gallimore and Karl Oliyide come in for Zak Joseph and Nathan Minhas who were on the bench.

Both sides pressed early on but without creating any chances.  However on 16 minutes Odei Sorondo was challenged on the edge of the Chesham area and the ball ran loose to Joel Colbran, who hit it first-time into the bottom corner of the net from 25 yards giving Ben Goode no chance.  Worthing nearly fluked a second four minutes later when an attempted clearance bounced off Nicky Wheeler and could have gone anywhere but flew just wide.  The home side dominated the rest of the half but only came close once more, when Colbran glanced a header wide from a Danny Cashman corner.  Chesham were overpowered but their cause was not helped by losing both Mitchell Weiss and T’Sharne Gallimore to injury before half-time.

Worthing again went on the attack in the opening minutes of the second half, and could have had a second in the opening minutes but Temi Babalola mishit a shot wide after Ben Goode saved from Joe Cook.  However three minutes later Chesham’s defence was stretched and Liam Nash headed in Odei Sorondo’s right-wing cross to make it 2-0.  Four minutes later Wheeler crossed low from the left and Babalola stole in between defender and goalkeeper to score the third.  At this stage it looked as if Chesham might be overwhelmed but they fought their way back as the home side eased off.  On 78 minutes Chesham came close for the first time when Samson Esan attempted to catch out Lucas Covolan at his near post, but the keeper dived to turn the ball behind for a corner.  Lewis Rolfe’s kick was headed back across goal by Steve Brown and Ryan Upward’s shot took a slight deflection and flew just wide.  Upward then got his head to the resulting corner but his effort came back off the bar.  Late in the game Worthing had chances to score a fourth when Danny Cashman cut in from the right but Ben Goode came out to block, then Mo Faal shot from distance but Goode stretched to tip the ball over.
